Move In Prayer

Just like the "we could have had a V-8" commercial where it suddenly dawns on the actors that a V-8 would have served them better than downing a sugary drink, do you catch yourself saying, "I could have prayed about it" when something isn't working out very well? That still happens to me!

"At 1st it may feel like freedom and fun* to skimp on prayer and neglect the Word. But then we pay with shallowness, powerlessness, vulnerability to sin, preoccupation with trifles, superficial relationships and a frightening loss of interest in worship and things of the spirit." John Piper

I want to practice moving in prayer more. Doesn't that sound like praying without ceasing? It isn't a last resort "cry for help" when nothing else has worked. And it isn't a magical formula to guarantee future success and a happy life. I see moving in prayer as a way to have courage when facing a daunting challenge. If I start moving while I'm praying I am not inactive and facing the likelihood of talking myself out of starting. And if I'm praying through the middle of it I am like a moving car that is much easier for the Holy Spirit to steer than a parked one.
